President

Clay leads Q4 Solutions’ strategic direction and client partnerships through framing and leading talent management and corporate development. He implements strategy, manages stakeholder relationships, and drives company culture. Clay’s collaborative attitude, common sense thinking, and Q4 leadership are a strong reflection of our organization’s core values.

Prior to his current role, Clay served as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, excelling both in selling and leading sales and customer-service teams. With solution-development expertise across manufacturing, retail, and finance, his experience includes global sales of multimillion-dollar solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Clay partners with Q4 Consultants to build solutions for their client base’s talent management challenges, working directly on large client opportunities including qualifying prospects, developing presentations, managing account strategies, negotiating contracts, and closing deals.

Dr. Matthew Smith

Executive Vice President, Consulting Services

Dr. Matt Smith is an organizational psychologist with over 25 years of experience driving superior business results through talent strategy. As a former P&L leader, Matt understands the business complexities behind each human capital solution. With expertise in organizational development, high-potential development, team development, executive coaching, and succession planning, Matt brings a wealth of real-world experience and practical business sense to each engagement.

As a member of the Q4 Solutions leadership team, Matt ensures delivery of high-quality service and innovative solutions. Prior to joining Q4 Solutions, Matt led Talent Elevation, LLC, where he provided personalized, targeted, and evidence-based services to raise the bar on organizational, team, and individual talent capabilities. Earlier in his career Matt held senior learning and development positions in two Fortune 100 companies in the industrial and finance sectors. Matt has published peer-reviewed research in national publications, and his leadership development programs have been featured in the Wall Street Journal.

Dr. Thomas D. Brooks

Executive Vice President, Professional Services

Dr. Tom Brooks partners and collaborates with national and multinational organizations and leaders at all levels. He provides clients with assessment solutions, guidance in talent management and development, succession planning, organizational planning and strategic C-Suite team building. He has also engaged in assessing, developing, and delivering custom training tools and programs in the global marketplace, leading initiatives to develop and conduct CEO selection services, CEO coaching, and CEO and Board Evaluations for various Fortune 500 companies.

Tom combines strong business knowledge with his background in psychology to produce consistent bottom-line impact by transforming people into effective leaders and improving the performance of individuals, teams, and organizations. Though Tom works with clients across many industries, his main area of concentration is partnering with retail clients as they navigate the new state of retail. This involves succession planning, selection and identification of talent, team building, change management, and executive coaching. His retail clients span the industry and include off-price, big box, specialty, luxury, home goods, and personal care companies, as well as wholesalers that provide product and fashion to the retail industry.

Dr. Hal Guterman

Dr. Hal Guterman leads the Assessment Practice area, and specializes in assessment services to various levels of organizational management. He assesses individuals for selection, promotion, succession planning, and developmental purposes. He provides expertise in the areas of personality and job performance, 360° feedback, competency modeling, senior team building, and executive coaching and action planning to help executives develop beyond their current capabilities.

Since joining Q4 Solutions, Hal has been instrumental in the development of the Q4 Competency Library, a suite of competencies used by organizations to determine specific managerial behaviors critical for key roles. These competencies serve as the underlying framework for all Talent Management functions, from recruiting and selection, to training and development, to performance evaluation and promotion. Hal has a rich background in both Industrial/Organizational and Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on training professionals across various levels and industries to enhance their leadership capabilities, interpersonal effectiveness, and communication skills.

Dr. Gary Lambert

In over 30 years of consulting with a wide variety of companies and organizations, Dr. Gary Lambert has gained practical, hands-on HR/OD experience in talent management, leadership development, and OD consulting that allows him to help individuals and organizations deliver high-quality business results. Through collaboration and partnership, Gary helps select, assess, and develop leaders across a broad range of national, international, public and private clientele.

Gary specializes in working with leaders to create powerful talent management programs that align with strategic objectives and facilitate the identification, selection, development, and retention of current and future leaders. He applies an integrated approach to acquiring and managing talent throughout the entire human capital development lifecycle. Over his career, Gary has consulted with organizations in manufacturing, finance, banking, defense, retail, consumer packaging, insurance, energy, utilities, pharmaceuticals, law enforcement, and education. He is the founder and President of Sharp Mind, a consulting and research firm dedicated to helping people and organizations reach their full potential.

Dr. David Rowan

Vice President, Organizational Consulting & Head of Learning & Development

Dr. David Rowan applies his experience and expertise as a licensed psychologist to assist companies and individuals with identifying areas for growth to maximize corporate productivity and personal performance. He has more than 15 years of experience with assessment processes, including instrument selection, interpretation, individualized interviewing, and integration of cognitive, personality, and functional factors into clear, concise and meaningful feedback.

David has an extensive background in instructional design and implementation, with a focus on tailoring training experiences for professional learners. He provides individualized performance-oriented coaching for C-Suite executives. David has a background in clinical psychology, with an emphasis on training professionals to improve communication skills and intervention outcomes. He has led workshops and training seminars at the national, regional, and local levels.

Erick Briggs, M.S.

Head of People Analytics & Innovation

Deploying a scientist-practitioner approach, Erick partners with clients and colleagues to translate empirical evidence into practical, actionable, data-driven solutions. His role is varied and includes business development, client delivery, and internal process improvement. Across a range of industries and sectors, Erick has worked with organizations in healthcare, professional services, telecommunications, travel, consumer staples, and non-profits.

With a strong background in quantitative analysis and statistical computing, Erick is skilled at leveraging data to help individuals, groups, and organizations make effective decisions and solve business problems. From discovery to implementation, he serves as a reliable collaborator and trusted thought-partner. Erick’s academic research explores the work-family issues of family members who work together, the challenges they face, and how they manage issues related to boundaries and conflict.

Michelle Western, M.A.

Organizational Consultant

Michelle partners with clients and colleagues to devise data-driven strategies in the areas of assessment, selection, development, and survey. Translating client needs into viable solutions, she uses a wide range of tools to collaborate with clients in placing the right people in the right jobs, so both individuals and organizations can grow, develop, succeed, and thrive.

Michelle is a strategic and imaginative thought-partner who can navigate best practices through real-world scenarios, contextualizing data within clients’ organizational values and team cultures. A key asset and advisor to assessment and survey teams, she is skilled at translating complex information into easily understandable graphics and language that provide clarity to the data. Michelle’s layered, thoughtful analysis makes data and feedback conversations understandable and meaningful. Her organizational skills and in-depth understanding of solutions throughout the organization have helped her facilitate and coordinate communication among staff.
